This is a medieval castle, no longer than 300 meters and no larger than 200 meters, is it connected to the rest of the world only by a narrow pedestrian bridge, if you admire it from a certain distance, you’ll realize it’s often partly cover by clouds and it looks like it’s floating in the sky. There are two reasons why this place is called the village in sky, the first one refers to Miyazaki Hayao’s work, the second one is connected to the fact that when clouds cover the lonely mountain, it seems like the castle was built in the top of them, so the best time to visit it, is exactly while having this weather conditions.
 

 
天空之城曾是一座欧洲贸易通道上的繁华都市，后来由于地质作用的原因在19世纪蜕变成一座孤岛。
Civita在拉丁文中意为围着城墙具有军事作用的城堡或城市，如果你了解一些意大利城市名字的话，会发现很多都有以Civita开头的名字。而Bagno意大利语意思是浴池，而Regio是王室的意思，所以白露里治奥在字面上解释就具有军事防御作用同事兼顾帝王御池的城市，传说浴场中的水有保健治疗疾病的功效，并且治愈过伦巴地族人的人德西德利乌国王的伤口。
 
This village in the sky was once a bustling city on the European Trade Corridor. Later, in nineteenth Century, due to geological reasons, it became an isolated island.
In Latin, the word “Civita” refers to a walled castle or city, if you’re familiar with some Italian cities’ names, you’ll realize there’s many of them beginning with this word; “bagno” in Italian means “pool” or “bath”; and “regio” is the royal family’s mansion, so Civita di Bagnoregio literally means king’s walled mansion, and put an emphasis on the pool, which water is believed to have the power to cure diseases, and it is said that it once cured Langobardus’ king’s wounds.
 

 
天空之城是神秘的，这里不通公路，没有交通工具，也鲜有史料介绍，甚至走进城堡，也无法找到一张像样的地图。想要了解这座古老的城堡，只能慢慢浏览、细细品味。
连接外界的只有一条步道，陡峭的山路唯一的交通工具就是驴，只有他们可以驮着重物在陡峭时山路自由上下，直到10年前才开始用一辆特殊三轮车运送物资。因此天空之城可是有着一个特殊的节日，赛驴节。 是的， 你没有看错，是赛驴节。每年六月第一个星期日和9月的第二个星期日。 如果你感兴趣，不要错过哦。
 
This village is surrounded by a sense of mystery, there are no roads which lead to it, no means of transportation can reach it, there’s no historical materials, and even inside the castle, there’s no maps. The only way to understand this ancient castle, is to browse around and savour it.
There’s only a footpath which connect it to the rest of the world and the only means of transportation which was able to go through the steep mountains and carry heavy objects was the donkey, only ten years ago they began to use a special tricycle. It is exactly for this reason that they have a special festival: donkey’s festival. Yes, the first Sunday of June and the second Sunday of September, it’s donkey’s day! If you are interested in it, don't miss it.
 

 
城中禁止机动车进入，因此为了走进天空之城，你需要走半个多小时的山路，但是当你到城中，你会被这古老这带着历史气息的城市吸引。
天空之城的特别之处还在于其保存相对完好的中世纪建筑，其相对隔绝的地理环境使其躲过了2次世界大战以及城市现代化进程的干扰。
长短不一的纵横小巷，清雅秀丽的花草，非对称结构的建筑，斑驳沧桑的墙身，古老朴素的门窗，拱形石砌的门楣，高矮各异的石梯，慵懒偷睡的猫咪，风格各异的房舍，无不展现了这个原汁原味的中世纪城堡，讲述着如烟的往事。
 
Motor vehicle cannot enter the village, the only way to reach it is to walk for more than half an hour, but when you arrive you will be immediately attracted by its historic charm.
An important feature of this village is represented by its relatively intact medieval buildings located in such an isolated geographical environment that escaped the world wars and the process of urban modernization.
 

 
小城位于易碎的火山凝灰岩顶上，俯瞰台伯河河谷，由于持续的侵蚀，古城悬崖周边的岩石不断脱落。2006年时被世界文物建筑基金会列入“全球100个最濒危遗址”名单。
天空之城，它仿佛是镶嵌在梦端的海市蜃楼，随时都可能消失不见。30年前宫崎骏创作的动画电影《天空之城》是以“拉普达”的随风而逝作为结局，但愿明天的白露里治奥不会成为只存在于人们记忆中的天空之城。
 
The small town is located on the top a fragile tuff and overlooks the Tiber River Valley. Due to the erosion, rocks continue to fall off the mountain which sustain the old city. In 2006, it was listed by the World Monument Foundation as one of the 100 most endangered sites in the world.
The city of the sky it’s like a mirage, it could disappear at any time. The 30 years old movie by Hayao Miyazaki's "The city of the sky" ended with the death of this city, gone with the wind. Actually everyone hopes this won’t truly happen.
